PSI President presents PSI Special Award at 50th BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition

The PSI President, Dr Margaret O' Rourke, was on hand at the 50th BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition to present the PSI Special Award at the RDS on Friday 10th of January 2014.

This is the second year the PSI has sponsored an award. Projects in the Social and Behavioural Science category were considered for the PSI Special Award, with the psychological content of projects being taken into account.

The PSI Special Award was presented to Elyssa Curran, Aishling Connolly and India Bartholomew from Schull Community College, Cork, for their project entitled 'Exercise Your Mind'. PSI President, Dr Margaret O' Rourke, is pictured below presenting the winners with their award.

This was the first time tht the PSI also took an exhibition stand at the BT Young Scientist Expo. The stand was manned by PSI staff and PSI members who volunteered their time over the three days. Exhibition delegates engaged in a variety of psychology experiments with the chance of winning prizes, as well as debating a range of psychology issues with PSI volunteers. A report on the PSI's involvement in this year's BT Young Scientist Expo is available in the February issue of the Irish Psychologist.
